Making Your Illinois Farm "Weather-Ready"

  • Bureau County Metro Center 837 Park Avenue West Princeton, IL 61356 (map)

Come learn about water and soil management tools to address weather effects, with presentations by Jim Angel, Illinois State Climatologist; Jim Isermann of the Soil Health Partnership; and Jill Kostel of the Wetlands Initiative.

Weather patterns in the Midwest are rapidly changing and are expected to continue shifting for the foreseeable future. To remain productive and profitable, Illinois farmers will need to adapt their farm management plans to account for more frequent heavy rain events, longer times between rain events, and extreme temperatures. This seminar will offer information that farmers and their advisors can use to improve the "weather-readiness" of Illinois agriculture.

Reservations are not required but appreciated. Please contact Jean McGuire by texting your name to (515) 520-3036, calling her at that number, or sending an email to jmcguire@wetlands-initiative.org.

Registration starts at 8:30, the presentations at 9:00; a free lunch buffet will be served.
