Join the Wetlands Initiative, The Nature Conservancy, Lake County Parks & Rec., and Audubon Great Lakes for a plug planting at Highland Rookery. Together we’ll plant several thousand native sedges and wildflowers at this family friendly event.
Volunteers will be trained in the proper planting of wetland plants and water, snacks, gloves, and tools will be provided. Plug planting will require bending or crouching, and planting locations are not easily accessible by wheelchairs. The planting location is at the base of a 20-foot grassy slope. Please dress for the weather and wear close toed shoes or boots.
Meet at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Rookery wetland. Parking is available at the southwest corner of the site, directly off of Liable Road (see parking map here).
