Fishing at Hennepin & Hopper Lakes

Lakes closed for 2010 Season

No ice fishing will be allowed on Hennepin and Hopper lakes this winter, due to the aquatic rehabilitation effort to remove the common carp and to re-establish a high quality marsh habitat in the lakes.

The lakes will not be open for fishing in the 2010 season, as the lakes will be refilling and re-populating with flora and fauna. Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Division of Fisheries will restock the lakes in spring 2010 with game fish and native species.

IDNR and The Wetlands Initiative will monitor the growth of the fish population in the coming years before deciding when to re-open the lakes to public fishing.
